Puerto Triana

Our proposal for the new Puerto Triana complex focuses on densifying the southern part of the Cartuja Island while creating a landmark on Seville’s Western entrance, and an attraction for the development of the left bank of the river. The building will become one of the important milestones of the Sevillian skyline.

The project is deliberately aimed at creating an intricate silhouette which will also contribute to avoid downdrafts. Seville deserves a sophisticated profile that conveys the cultural mix in Andalusia and its visual traditions: the baroque, the minarets, the ceramic tiling… The ornamentation of the surface, the intricate profile of arabesques and lace are some of the references that we have embedded in the design of the tower. Puerto Triana will represent the left bank of the river, Triana and the Cartuja Island, and will perform as an urban sculpture, like the silhouette of a bailaora or a Brancusi piece. Given its position next to the river and in front of the historic center, Puerto Triana tower will have an enormous presence along of the entire riverfront. Therefore we have designed a profile that changes as the observer moves along the river, producing different impressions from different points of view.

At the programmatic level: The proposal is structured in a that the relationships and adjacencies between the different parts of the program optimize the relationships between them. Concentration of the tertiary program to the south of the site will contribute to giving it a balance of use of the public space released by the concentration of the building mass.

At the level of environmental efficiency, maintenance and durability, the project has been done with low consumption materials energy and high durability. Our proposal is to use geothermal energy taking advantage of the surface presence of the aquifer, to maximize the use of renewable energies. The facades from to the tower have been proposed in ceramic materials, that will cover 50% of the surface of the façade by means of a ventilated skin that will help dissipate solar charges on the building, minimizing energy consumption.
