The Southeast Coastal Park and Auditoriums project is part of the infrastructure that the City of Barcelona planned as the Host City for the International Forum of Cultures in 2004.

Our proposal aimed to generate an organic geometry for the Park from the constraints of the Civic program through a mediated integration of geometric models. The organizational prototype for the park is borrowed from sand dunes. The programmatic distribution was based on the analysis of the different sport and leisure activities which the park had to host and the harsh environmental conditions of this exposed location.

The park’s topography was designed to optimize views provided open air auditoria and complementary spaces for events and activities with suitable protection from the prevailing south-west wind. It also provides suitable habitats for vegetation and also to determine zones planned for different activities as well as site-lines and areas of shade. The park allows multiple sports and leisure activities, from walking to running, cycling, skateboarding and a series of performance and relaxing areas by a network of paths or activity zones.
