The implementation of the new hospital building seeks to preserve the existing green space on the outskirts of Esch-sur-Alzette.

Currently, the large site is colonized in the south by small suburban gardens of domestic scale which drink water from the Dipbech, a small affluent to the Alzette River.

The new project, proposes a large green roof, and provides value to the underlying spirit of the area as a space of interaction between man and landscape. This preexistence resonates with the idea of health linked to nature.

Our proposal is to design the building as a semi-underground plinth, creating an artifi cial topography that will become a green envelope. Some specific areas of the hospital (examination, treatment and administrative) will be located underneath this new green surface. Above this base, the hospital is materialised as 8 blocks of 4 floors, developed along the north-south axis. These 8 blocks will host all the inpatient units. At their base, as a transitional area, technical rooms with all the facilities will give service to all the patient rooms above and the surgery rooms below.
